Professional Background

Melynda von Wayward has a BA in Dramatic Arts from the Victorian College of the Arts (majoring in technical production) and a Grad Dip in Arts Management from the University of Melbourne. 

Melynda von Wayward has been part of the Australian arts and cultural sector for 30 years and has worked with many small to medium arts organisations in many different capacities, including as a Light Designer, Stage Manager, and Production Manager.

Melynda has also been a a Creative Producer and has created and managed her own projects including:

Melynda von Wayward is available as an arts management and grant writing consultant.  She can offer her professional skills and knowledge to creative individuals and arts organisations who require arts management and grant writing assistance.  

Melynda can assist with the entire grant writing process, helping to ensure that all the key application criteria is met, that the budget balances,  and that the application has been properly submitted.

Subculture Research

• Melynda von Wayward is the project creator of a website called Punk Journey - The History of the Melbourne Punk Scene (1977-1987).  

• She has also self-published a photographic book titled 'Punk a Photography Journey: 2004 - 2007' that captures and celebrates the colour, style and attitude of the contemporary Melbourne punk scene.

• In 2014 Melynda curated Punk Journey: St Kilda + Beyond and in 2017 she curated St Kilda’s Alright: The Fred Negro Experience. 

• In 2024, Melynda created a research project called WIMSK about the history of women in Australian Music from 1900-2025, with a strong focus on St Kilda as the centre of live music in Melbourne. This research was part of the 2025 ROAR Fest Program.
